Christmas at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground

Mickey's Once Upon a Christmastime Parade

“It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” This couldn’t be more true for me. I LOVE the Christmas season. I love how everything is a bit sweeter, a bit more lovely, a bit more beautiful; people are a bit more patient, and kind and there is so much magic in the air. This is ESPECIALLY true at the Most Magical Campground on Earth!

If you are among the thousands of Happy Campers that have found themselves at the Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground at The Walt Disney World Resort, then you know how magical these 750 acres are. Here, at Fort Wilderness, wild turkeys roam freely from campsite to campsite. Deer casually stroll across the street while busses drive by. Bunnies, owls, and squirrels perch themselves near campers, gobbling up any snacks that are left behind. Disney’s working horses, and Cinderella’s ponies live here, and campers are free to come by for a visit (oooh, but DON’T touch!). Bay Lake’s clear waters lap up on the shores of Clementine’s Beach, and there are two fantastic dinner shows offered (seasonally). All throughout the year, the campground is a go-to for campers, but at Christmastime, this place is a must-see.

My husband and I joke that this is the only place we ever want to camp, but we know we share this sentiment with so many other travelers. The campground is so great for families who like an easy-breezy family time. Just last night, we sang silly songs by the campfire, surrounded by beautiful decorations and the snap and crackle of two bonfires. Kids run around freely, under bright stars. Nightly, in addition to the campfire and movie, there are sleigh rides that start at The Outpost and cruise the property. Campers also decorate their own campsites with Christmas lights, projection shows and inflatables. We love to just walk (or ride, or drive - golf carts are available to rent at a daily rate) through each loop, looking at the Christmas decorations, and planning how we will step up our decoration game for next year.

If you aren’t a camper, but the outdoorsy, natural life is all you, there are also a number of cabins to rent that sleep up to 6 people. One of the best perks about Fort Wilderness

Campground is that since it is situated on Bay Lake, right next to The Wilderness Lodge, we also have easy, convenient transportation to Magic Kingdom, as well as incredible views of the special Very Merry Christmas Party fireworks, and the nightly water parade. To top it all off, the breakfast buffet at Trail’s End, with its cheery staff, and festive, rustic decorations, views of the lake, and the Country Christmas Tree, and of course, the Mickey Waffles, is our favorite part of every trip. If you love a little Bluegrass, a little wilderness, some good food, jolly Christmas decorations and a whole lot of magic, then Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground is the holiday destination for you. But, if you’re dreaming of a country Christmas, you will want to book now for the 2018 Holiday Season. These sites go like hot cakes at a hootenanny on a Sunday mornin.

Ashley is one of our agents and if you couldn't tell her favorite resort is in fact Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground!
