5 Ways for Adults to Enjoy Walt Disney World...Without Kids!
As an adult that loves everything about Walt Disney World, it shocks me when I meet other adults that don’t share my affinity for the most magical place on Earth. My wife and I not only went there on our honeymoon, but have gone many other times without kids! Still some claim, “It’s too childish for me” or “I would go, but only for my kids!” Others can’t even fathom the idea that it is one of the most frequented Honeymoon destinations in the world!
Well today, I’m putting the naysayers to rest, because here are 5 ways adults are sure to enjoy Walt Disney World…even without kids!
1. Head to Downtown Disney!
Downtown Disney is like being in the theme parks without the rides and entrance fees. What does that leave you? How about incredible shopping, dining and entertainment?! There are countless ways to spend time in Downtown Disney. Amazing restaurants, nightlife, Cirque du Soleil, bowling, an AMC movie theater, boat or Amphicar rides, Starbucks, food trucks, and more coming soon! As Downtown Disney continues to morph into Disney Springs, this destination is on track to becoming the number one spot for adults on vacation to Walt Disney World…and it’s not even inside a theme park!
2. Dine around the world without leaving Orlando.
Not only is Walt Disney World home to Victoria and Albert’s, a AAA Five Diamond Award winning restaurant, but also many other unique dining experiences that are sure to excite even the most skeptical adult. You can drink around the world at Epcot’s World Showcase, sample food from over 30 countries at the Food and Wine Festival, watch the fireworks during dinner at California Grill, or be dazzled by the dueling pianos at Jellyrolls. Just make sure to bring stretchy pants! The cuisine at any table service restaurant in WDW is sure to exceed your expectations. Personal preference - try the Mushroom Filet Mignon with White Truffle Butter Sauce and Micro Chevril at Le Cellier. Yeah, this isn’t your ordinary theme park food.
3. Stay in your personal paradise.
Although some Walt Disney World resorts are known for gigantic displays of Mickey’s pals, there are a wide array of resorts with nothing more than subtle hints to Disney’s trademark characters. Maybe you would like to hang out on the beach or watch the fireworks from your private bungalow at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort? Or maybe detox and get pampered at Senses Spa in Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa? You could also wake up to giraffes and gazelles grazing on the savannah outside your window at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Lodge. Whatever your relaxing pleasure, there is a perfect Walt Disney World resort for you.
4. Complete a goal.
As running has grown in popularity over the past 10 years, so has the variety of "runDisney" events. You can knock out your goal of finishing your first 5K while jogging through Epcot, or conquer your dream of running a full marathon while dashing through all four theme parks during Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend. Don’t forget to reward yourself with a Mickey waffle after you finish!
5. Ride attractions that not everyone is tall enough for.
When most people think of Walt Disney World they think of the "Mad Tea Party" (Tea Cups) or “it’s a small world®.” What they don’t realize is that some of the best thrill rides in the world are right there as well! Fuse those thrill rides with an incredibly detailed and researched back story and you will see why each attraction has a die hard fan following. Here are some of the must see attractions to check out - "Space Mountain", "Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster starring Aerosmith", "Tower of Terror", "Expedition Everest", "Mission Space" and "Test Track".
I can think of about one hundred more ideas, but go ahead and try some of these first. Any one of these is guaranteed to show any adult a great time.
